Rajmachi is a tiny town sited in Maharashtra’s Konkan region, in the Sahyadri mountainous region. The village of Udhewadi, another name for Rajmachi, is located at the base of the fort. Rajmachi Fort is well-known among trekkers and explorers. If you would like to do a complete trek, you can start from the edge of the Kondhane caves and climb for 3-4 hours. You can, however, drive all the way to the top to Udhewadi village (from Lonavala) and then take a 20-30 minute walk to the top of the fort. Rajmachi is a popular beginner’s trek due to the simple and well-marked trail on both paths.

Karla Caves are ancient Buddhist rock-cut caves that are popular tourist destinations. It is one of India’s oldest Buddhist cave shrines, also known as Karli Caves, Karle Caves, or Karla Cells. These caves house one of India’s largest Chaityas (prayer halls with stupas). Karla Caves is best known for its Ekvira Temple, which is located within.

Karla Caves, formerly known as Veluraka, house a gigantic 15-meter pillar as well as a temple devoted to Goddess Ekveera. A major ancient trade route running east from the Arabian Sea into the Deccan can be seen near the caves. To get to the cave, one must climb nearly 150 stairs.
